IT Technician III

Vertex Education is a management organization that provides business services to schools. Areas of support include academics, special education, finance, IT, facilities, food services, HR, communications and marketing, compliance and construction. The goal of Vertex Education is to be a resource and service to schools that are not able to offer these services in-house. Vertex currently manages 19 schools comprising 23,000 students and over 2,000 employees.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The primary responsibility of the Level III Technician is to provide the third level of IT support to all users across the district. Any issues that are unable to resolve will be escalated to this technician. The Level III technician will also assist in the installation, maintenance, upgrade, and repair of all IT-related equipment and software. This position will be responsible for assisting the IT Support Manager in strategy, implementation, scheduling, planning, and escalations. These duties will be performed under the guidance of the IT Support Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Third Level Technical Support
  • Perform escalated technical troubleshooting steps for both hardware and software related issues
  • Repair or replace necessary devices/peripherals as needed
  • Build out of new computers and set up of workstations
  • Perform lead tasks within projects
  • Operates in an advisory role for the IT Support Manager
  • Works with Systems Administration team to architect and plan future scalable solutions
  • Assist in new campus rollouts (staff workstation and lab set up)
  • Provide documentation of Self-Service and Knowledge Base Articles
  • Assist the System Administrators in any deployments or other duties as assigned by the IT Support Manager
  • Assessment of new business opportunities from a technology perspective
  • Manage and assist in the day-to-day operations of campus technology
  • Assist in management of Active Directory privileges, access rights and computer environment by using Group Policy
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex technical issues
  • Support the Systems Administration team to ensure successful deployments of new applications, software upgrades, etc.
  • Document technical details of the organization (Data Flow, SOPs, etc.)
  • Confer with teams to resolve conflicts, prioritize needs, and choose solutions
  • Determine user needs by analyzing technical requirements
  • Stay current with technological developments in information technology and provide recommendations for scalable growth strategies
  • Establishes relationships with technology and component vendors
  • Identifying problems uncovered by customer feedback and testing, and correcting or referring problems to appropriate personnel for correction
  • Shows a tremendous amount of initiative in challenging situations
  • Readily shares ideas and opinions on topics and engages in healthy and constructive conflict

QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Certifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems (or related degree), or 7+ years of related experience

BACKGROUND CHECKS

  • The incumbent in this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check
  • Must be able to obtain and hold a valid IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card at all times
  • Must have a valid driver's license

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Travel between campuses is required from time to time.
  • This position requires the need to lift objects (up to 25 pounds) on occasion.
  • This position may require sitting for long periods at times, talking on the phone, standing, kneeling, stooping and long periods of concentration.
