Why Mayo Clinic
The Surgical and Critical Care Systems Unit within the Section of Hospital and Surgical Systems in the Departmental Systems Division has an opening for an Analyst/Programmer. This position will be involved in the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of DataMarts that support the Department of Medicine Hospital Analytics program. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, data analysis, ETL, reporting, data visualization, and application development. The candidate will be closely engaged with customers gathering requirements, providing leadership for new and ongoing projects, trouble shooting issues, and assisting with data analytic activities.
Candidates should have experience with or exposure to DataMart or Data Warehouse development including ETL, data analysis, data modeling using technology specific ETL, SSIS, stored procedure development, TSQL(analytics), Microsoft SQL server, IBM DB2, OO Design, Web app development in either J2EE or .NET, UML analysis, GUI frameworks such as GWT(Google Web Tool) or Java Swing or .NET WPF/WCF. Experience with System Integration Frameworks such as Sprint and MQ, CSS, HTML, and HL7 is a plus. Previous healthcare related experience is also a plus. This is a full time telework position.
A 2 year commitment is required.
Position description
Provides IT support for vended and custom applications, including resolving highly complex issues, and assists with data security, redundancy, and support in collaboration with more senior technical staff.
Conducts root-cause analysis by researching hardware environment and software application and system problems, works with colleagues and customers to resolve issues, documents resolution, and communicates resolution with customer. Regularly reviews applications and makes modifications and/or updates of a single system application or basic software and their associated hardware at multiple Mayo Clinic sites to ensure currency and functionality within the established environment. Contributes to the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of custom system software, and/or the installation and maintenance of purchased systems software, as well as the configuration and support of hardware systems across Mayo Clinic.
Produces and maintains documentation such as systems requirements, designs, resource inventories and plans as requested. Interfaces routinely with colleagues who may be located at any of the Mayo Group practices to perform job responsibilities requiring virtual collaboration and partnership. May be required to provide 24/7 on-call support.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and training/experience in technical development; OR, Associate's degree and 5 years' professional experience in technical development.

Additional qualifications
Knowledge of system design principles, software development methodologies, and computer programming.
Ability to take responsibility and accountability for own activities. Possesses ability to multi-task and prioritize issues appropriately. Aids in the evaluation of alternative approaches and may help in presenting recommendations to teams and unit. Evidence of strong communication and organizational skills.
May interface with vendor support service groups or other external support teams to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance. Acts as a liaison to Mayo departments and vendors to adequately support the division's computing systems. Experience working in healthcare technology. Exposure to managing both custom developed and vendor-supplied applications.

Compensation Detail
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $2,805 based on a full-time position.
