Vice President, Technology & Informatics
Selfhelp Community Services was founded in 1936 to help those fleeing Nazi Germany maintain their independence and dignity as they struggled to forge new lives in America. The organization is dedicated to maintaining the independence and dignity of seniors and at-risk populations through a spectrum of housing, home health care, and social services and is a leader and innovator in applying new methods and technologies to address changing needs of its community. Selfhelp is strongly committed to continuing to serve as the “last surviving relative to its historic constituency, victims of Nazi persecution.
Today, Selfhelp is one of the largest and most respected not-for-profit human service agencies in the New York metropolitan area, with 27 sites offering programs throughout Manhattan, Queens, the Bronx, Nassau County and Westchester. On an annual budget of approximately $90M Selfhelp provides a broad set of services to more than 20,000 elderly, frail and vulnerable New Yorkers each year, while remaining the largest provider of comprehensive services to Holocaust survivors in North America. The organization offers a complete network of home care and community based services with the overarching goal of helping seniors live with dignity and independence and avoid institutionalization.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a highly experienced, disciplined and innovative information systems and technology leader to help shape the vision and future direction of Selfhelp’s technology and healthcare informatics strategy and client-centered technology platforms supporting a diverse network of home, community based and senior living programs and administrative operations. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Vice President, Technology & Informatics will be a key member of the executive leadership team responsible for overseeing all information technology resources, systems and IT infrastructure as well as identifying opportunities to leverage and align technology innovation with service delivery to further advance Selfhelp’s core mission and services and support the diversification of its revenue streams.
The Vice President, Technology & Informatics will assume the following key responsibilities:
Leadership & Strategy
“best-in-class information technology and informatic solutions to support the current and planned
growth of program operations and advance the organization’s work with health information (HIT) and client
comprehensive understanding of the current use of technology and requirements and how to best translate
IT and Informatics solutions to meet business needs
Information Technology | Systems
and other external relationships in the field of senior and aging services
automation, and the organization’s core healthcare initiatives, including Seflhelp’s Gerontechnology Center
system specification through system roll-out and implementation
and systems are in place to comply with all IT and data security standards and best practices, HIPAA and
healthcare privacy requirements and other applicable regulatory and licensing requirements
to user requirements and service expectations
with key IT product and service providers
class application development practices in home and community based care
IT capital requests for the organization, and develop the appropriate policies to monitor and control all costs
related to the acquisition, implementation and operation of all IT systems and resources
data and how to best integrate this into informatics platform that will support and enhance service delivery,
program planning and critical decision-making
indicators used by clinical and program staff to enhance clinical and programmatic workflow and improve
patient care and outcomes
and community based health programs to coordinate data integration and analytics strategy
supporting continuous performance improvement, advancing quality of care and health outcomes, and
assuring patient safety
management across Selfhelp’s health information platform
data inputs and systems are implemented in compliance with required standards and practice
scalable solutions including - Selfhelp Innovations - Client Centered Technology and Virtual Senior Centers
to further promote Seflhelp s’ work in the home and community based healthcare markets
the financial sustainability of IT investments and associated risk, benefits and opportunities to the organization
The ideal candidate should possess the following experience, competencies and personal characteristics:
Experience | Education:
field. An MBA or Master’s Degree is a plus
and community based services or healthcare field of which at least seven (7) were in a senior IT leadership
role responsible for IT strategy, applications and systems architecture, informatics and technology innovation
