The Solid Waste Division (SWD), Recycling and Environmental Services Section (RES) is recruiting for an enthusiastic team player to support its Construction and Demolition (C&D) debris management and green building (GreenTools) programs. The successful candidate will provide a wide range of support to move the County towards Zero Waste of Resources and a sustainable built environment. Responsibilities of this position include managing a grants program, tracking and analyzing data, assisting in outreach and education, implementing policy, coordinating with multiple stakeholders, analysis, research, planning and contract management. This is a professional position; work is performed both independently and in close coordination with other program managers and the RES Supervisor. A key focus for 2019-20 will be to develop and implement a new grant program for expanding markets for C&D materials. The hired staff will also have a passion for tracking financial performance and recycling trends, the desire and ability to implement restorative green building programs, implement climate related policies, and incorporate racial equity to achieve measurable outcomes that benefit all SWD rate payers. Work Schedule: This full-time Career Service position works a 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday. This position is nonexempt from FLSA provisions and is overtime eligible. Solid Waste Division Profile: The Solid Waste Division's (SWD) core business is to operate the solid waste transfer, disposal and recycling services for residents and businesses in all of King County, except for Seattle and Milton. The division also provides regulatory oversight of Construction and Demolition (C&D) debris management within its service area. The primary objective of the division is Zero Waste of Resources and proper disposal of waste. In addition, the division manages the countywide green building program (GreenTools) which promotes resiliency in the built environment, both internally with County operations and externally with numerous cities and building industry stakeholders. SWD's service area has a population of about 1.5 million, or approximately 70 percent of King County's population as a whole.
