Works under the direction of the IT Manager. Responsible for tier 1 and tier 2 Helpdesk tickets, assembly/installation of all computer equipment, peripherals, operating system software, non- proprietary applications software, and network communications. Provide user departments with problem assessment and resolution, review, evaluation, and recommendations for PC hardware, software acquisitions and non-proprietary software training. Also, continue to improve the Floyd County website and social media platforms.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Resolve issues for clients via phone, in person, or electronically
Install and maintain PC hardware, peripheral and operation system, and application software. Monitor and diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve/recover system failures.
Review new hardware and software products for usability within the county environment. Maintain an inventory of installed PC hardware, software, upgrades, etc.
Quote computer equipment, server equipment and other peripheral equipment needed for the network Provide server support, track and maximize server capacity/usage
Evaluate software and hardware requirements prior to purchasing new computers and software
Single Point of Contact for county employees, vendors as well as a single point of contact for Technology/communications needs
Connect, set up and maintain servers, computers, networks etc. at the county courthouse and other county locations
Provide training on new software or existing software i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc. Provide training and orientation to new users of existing technology and potential uses of existing technology
Conduct and maintain an inventory of existing computer, servers, network equipment, printers, peripheral equipment, etc. and evaluate current computer inventory prior to purchasing a new computer, server, etc.
Supervise large installation of infrastructure projects and install small or incidental infrastructure wiring projects.
Receive and respond to incoming calls, pages, and/or work orders regarding desktop problems. Ensure that desktop connection is in proper working order.
Maintain IP addresses for computers, printers, etc. and provide network accounts and passwords as needed
Maintain virus protection on all computers and ensure all equipment is password protected
Monitor security of all technology, install and maintain foolproof passwords, requiring expiration and secure password formats
Ensure installation of lockout programs and establish self-service password resets Notify users prior to non-scheduled maintenance-avoiding interruption of work activity
Maintain and continue to improve the web site to include all entities of Floyd County Government
Coordinate with department heads to provide web-based access to public documents, records, meeting notices, agenda, meeting minutes, ordinances, building permits, online spring and fall tax payments etc.
Assist departments in planning and development in assessing current & future hardware and software need Proactive in obtaining grants from outside sources for the IT department
Assist in preparation of annual budget for the Information Technology Department Maintain warranty and service information on hardware
Identify and prepare hardware for disposal when appropriate and ensure hardware has been "neutralize", hard drives destroyed or reformatted for the appropriate disposal method
County Cell phone and tools needed will be provided by the county Other duties as assigned
Preferred: Experience equal to or an Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or completion of technical specialty program of 16 months to 3-years duration
PREVIOUS JOB-RELATED EXPERIENCE:
Two years or more work experience in the Information Technology field
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Indoor/Office related environments
May occasionally be required to work late nights and or weekends for software installs, system upgrades, equipment relocation as well as being on call from time to time during off hours.
Must be able to lift up to 50lbs, Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.
Sitting, standing, or walking for extended periods of time. Driver’s License is required with Good driving record.
