Healthcare Patient Advocate

As an Asserta Healthcare patient Advocate, you will help people understand the cost of healthcare in advance and make good healthcare purchasing decisions. We work with employers, health plans, and their plan members to help consumers understand their options for high-quality healthcare, and how their decisions impact healthcare costs. We put consumers in a position to save money by paying their full healthcare bill immediately, even when all or a portion of the funds come directly from their health plan. We provide information and education, guiding consumers step by step through the entire care and payment processes.

We are looking for people with telephonic customer service experience who understand how hard it is to navigate the healthcare system and have a strong desire to be part of a team that is actively solving the problem.

What is the Job?

As an Asserta Health Concierge, you will answer the phone, listen carefully to understand concerns, anticipate needs, and guide consumers, step by step, through the decisions they need to make and the steps they need to take to get the care they need at a fair price. You will make sure they understand their benefits and help them find opportunities to make high-quality choices and save money at the same time.

As an Asserta Health Concierge, you will be part of a dynamic team that’s committed to helping consumers understand their options in advance so that they can make the best choice - for them.

You will:

  • Help consumers understand their benefits, their options, and how working with Asserta Health can help them save money
  • Understand and address consumer needs and concerns by asking questions, gathering information, providing education and building trust with timely and consistent follow up
  • Source provider options, assist with provider selection and appointment scheduling
  • Manage provider communications and payment processes to ensure payment in full at the time of service, including both plan and member responsibility
  • Serve as a consumer advocate who anticipates needs and coordinates scheduling, pre-certification processes, complex procedure plans, transitions between care settings, and resolution of any unexpected bills
  • Identify and explore trends, patterns, and issues that require further investigation and follow up
  • Maintain timely, complete and accurate documentation of all encounters, actions, and communications to facilitate effective team collaboration and reporting
  • Maintain compliance, privacy, and confidentiality in all documentation, communications and correspondence
  • Am I Qualified? What’s Required?

    We are looking for people who are:

  • Self-motivated, hardworking, organized and detail oriented
  • Good listeners who are naturally curious and inquisitive, and demonstrate a genuine desire to help people successfully navigate the complex and confusing world of healthcare
  • Team players who can work independently but truly enjoy collaborating with a cross-functional team to put serving the needs of the client/consumer first
  • Tenacious investigators who enjoy troubleshooting, serving as an advocate for others, and solving complex problems
  • Requirements include:

  • Spanish Speaking.
  • Direct, real-life experience with health care (as a patient, caregiver or employee of a provider organization or health plan)
  • A serious passion for improving the healthcare consumer experience
  • A minimum of two years’ experience working directly with consumers in a complex telephonic customer service setting
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, demonstrated keyboard proficiency
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to build trust and inspire confidence in collaborative relationships.

    Day shift Monday - Friday

    Job Type: Full-time

    Salary: $15.00 to $17.00 /hour
