The Fiscal Specialist is responsible for budgeting, reporting and analysis of diverse programmatic budgets of WSU Tri-Cities. In a dynamic environment, this position will provide proactive customer service to all university cohorts in the areas of financial and administrative processes, financial and capital planning, accounting, sponsored projects and reporting. This position applies specialized knowledge and skills in order to assess and improve best practices for the campus.Additional Information Appointment Status Permanent Job Appointment (FTE%)

Three years of fiscal record keeping experience; OR equivalent education/experience.
A Bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to area of specialization and three (3) years of related experience Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment and analytical thought processes for problem solving.
Intermediate to advanced proficiency level with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint to create spreadsheets, graphs, charts and reports, prepare presentations, conduct data analysis and manage information efficiently.
Strong computer skills and experience using MS Office and databases.
Ability to use complex, online financial and/or administrative systems.
Committed to providing excellent customer service across a wide variety of academic and administrative units.
Record of consistency in meeting deadlines and following assignments through to completion while seeking out assistance as needed.
Ability to develop and/or suggest procedures for more efficient recordkeeping or to improve current operations.
Ability to organize workload; use independent judgement in problem solving; provide effective management for complex accounting activity.
Ability to interpret laws and policies, actively listen, observe processes and procedures, recommend improvements and write clear and concise procedures.
Detailed-oriented with a high degree of accuracy; ability to produce consistent high-quality results.
Strong oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills.
Three (3) years of experience directly related to finance/budget/accounting supporting complex business operations, projects and/or administrative reporting functions.
Experience in higher education, local or state agency, or equivalent.
Experience auditing for allowable, reasonable and consistent data.
Experience preparing summary fiscal reports and budget models of higher education.
